Keep high-risk foods secured

Prevent access instead of relying on a pet to avoid unsafe food.

  • Grapes, raisins, onions, and garlic
  • Cooked bones and excessively salty food
02

Prevent accidental exposure

Bins, bags, counters, and visitors are common sources of accidental ingestion.

  • Use lidded bins
  • Ask visitors not to share food
  • Read ingredient labels on sugar-free products

Respond promptly

If exposure may have occurred, collect useful information without delaying professional advice.

  • Note the item, amount, and approximate time
